| Over the years, ABAG has developed a broad base of staff expertise in land use, housing, economic development, environmental quality, earthquake and hazardous spills preparedness and response, and analysis and projections programs. These capabilities are now being focused on assisting local governments with complex local and regional issues. MTC is provided with in-depth analysis of relationships between transportation plans and projects and comprehensive planning issues at local, subregional and regional levels. Products include preparation of position and issue papers and organization of workshops, conferences and seminars on timely regional topics, and conduct of the Areawide Clearinghouse for review of federal grant applications and development projects, and subregional studies, and in reviewing the annual element of the Regional Transportation Improvement Program. |
| In 1992, ABAG's General Assembly adopted a Platform on Growth Management. This Platform serves as the Association's policy statement setting out an organizing structure for state, regional, subregional and local growth management and planning coordination. |
