Bay Trail Development

The San Francisco Bay Trail Project, staffed by ABAG and jointly funded by ABAG dues and a special allocation by MTC's Regional Measure 1 revenues, has assisted many shoreline cities in obtaining monies to develop the Bay Trail. The project has greatly enhanced multi-jurisdictional cooperation, public/private partnerships, and volunteer support for recreational and environmental projects in the Bay Area. The Bay Trail project began in 1987-88 with a special allocation by MTC of TDA revenues from the county allocations (and matched by ABAG dues). The planning was completed in 1989 with the adoption of the Bay Trail Plan and Environmental Assessment and is expected to require a decade to complete. Visit our home page for more information.
