Important
Install nails flush to sheathing
Maintain proper sheathing edge distance
Remove improperly installed nails
Provide proper edge nailing
Notes:
WHAT ARE SOME OTHER PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED WHILE NAILING?
- Splitting of lumber:
- All fasteners in wood must be installed without splitting of the lumber.
- There are no exceptions.
- Existing lumber can be very dry and stiff. If needed to prevent splitting, predrilling of holes at 75% of the nail diameter is required.
- Remember that nail guns, especially, will split the lumber if nailed too close to the edge
