PLEASE HELP. As you are aware, California is experiencing a serious energy crisis, and the situation reaches a new plateau of urgency every day that temperatures rise. This summer, conservation and efficiency are critical to our state's ability to avoid rolling blackouts, ensure public safety and prevent economic disruption. Since the hottest months of the year are approaching rapidly, we must take action now!

By conserving energy, we have been, and can continue to directly contribute to the resolution of the state's energy shortage. Please read through the energy conservation tips below, use the link provided to visit our website (click on our website address), and fill out a "Save Energy Pledge" that will be counted immediately. We also ask that you spread this important message by forwarding this email to friends and family.

You can conserve energy by:

  1. Turning off lights and appliances that are not essential;
  2. Setting thermostats to 78 degrees or higher during warm weather and during cold weather, to 68 degrees or lower;
  3. When shopping for lights and appliances, purchasing efficient ones (ENERGY STAR) that use the least energy;
  4. Delaying the use of clothes dryers and other large appliances until after 7PM.

We are sending you this important message as a participant in the Flex Your Power Energy Conservation Campaign which is supported by most major business and civic leaders, and the State of California. If you have any questions regarding this initiative, please call the Flex Your Power office at (916) 651-9127 or visit our website at www.flexyourpower.ca.gov.

Sincerely,
(Jerry Lahr / ABAG Power Pool Project Manager)
