ABAG Green Communities Program

Program Overview - GHG Emissions Inventories - Energy Efficiency Workshops

Program Overview
Copyright 2011, PG&E Green Communities represents a portfolio of programs administered by Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) using rate payer funds under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission to support local governments and communities to achieve greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals.

One of these programs is designed to train local government staff and interns to understand and complete a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory for community-wide and local government operations. Jurisdictions may use these inventories as the basis for their own Climate Action Plan. Growing awareness of climate change impacts on California communities coupled with legislative mandates has created a need for climate action planning; and the baseline GHG emissions inventory is an important first step in a jurisdiction’s climate protection initiatives.

The other program is a series of workshops to assist local governments in completing energy efficiency projects. The workshops are offered in several locations in the San Francisco Bay Area at no cost.
