How to use this manual

The PLAN's Risk Management Standards are broken into two parts -

  1. The Framework for an effective risk management program: Organizational Structure and Policy Support, Injury & Illness Prevention Plan, Claims Reporting and Follow Up, and Goal Setting
  2. Best Practices in a variety of operational areas that apply to our members, including our standards and samples from other members

Framework:

  • Sample Risk Management Manual (pdf) - contains our Risk Management Framework standards, how to implement them, sample policies and forms, and a self-assessmen t form for all our standards.

  • Complete Self Assessment - includes the Framework a nd all Best Practice areas listed below.

  • RMM Forms (Word format, ready for re-use) - forms from the above manual, in Word for customizing to your program.

Best Practices:

  • Best Practices - our standards and collection of Best Practices in a variety of areas, including vehicles, sidewalk, tree, ADA, sewer, police, fire, playgrounds, contractor selection, aquatic safety, and more as needed by and collected from members

  • CJPIA Policy Library - these California Joint Powers Authority reference materials were compiled for Authority members to assist in the development and implementation of necessary programs and policies. Materials include, but are not limited to, current OSHA regulations (as of the posting of the information), selections from the California Code of Regulations and policy samples.
