Density
Number of households or jobs per acre.

Infill
Development of new housing, workplaces, shops, and other facilities within existing urban or suburban areas: development of vacant lots, reuse of underutilized sites (such as parking lots, old industrial sites, or brownfields), and rehabilitation or expansion of existing buildings.

Regional Smart Growth Vision
Regional growth pattern featuring higher densities in major urban areas and a proliferation of compact, mixed-use, and mixed income neighborhoods along transit corridors, particularly near transit stations, in town centers, and in a handful of peripheral areas. Growth varies considerably from county to county. In general, this growth pattern or "Vision" calls for the greatest share of growth in households and jobs to be located in each county's urban core, particularly near transit hubs and along transit corridors, and for open spaces and agricultural lands to be preserved. Narrative vision is a culmination of a two-year, multi-agency, multi-stakeholder, public engagement visioning process.

Smart Growth
Development that reflects higher densities, mixed use, and a higher proportion of housing and employment growth in urban areas, particularly near transit stations and along transit corridors, as well as in town centers.
