Hometown Blues: The Struggle Over Growth in the Bay Area

This is a 30-minute documentary on housing and growth issues in the San Francisco Bay Area. The documentary begins with an exploration of the problem and its causes: why Bay Area housing prices, and consequently traffic congestion, have skyrocketed; why we have a housing shortage; can we accommodate our projected population growth, while preserving the region's quality of life. The video considers various solutions to these problems such as urban growth boundaries, building more compactly within existing communities, and designing suburban communities that are less auto-dependent.
