American Planning Association Affordable Housing Reader
For the American Planning Association, affordable housing is a "supertopic" to which special resources are being directed this year. APA recognizes affordable housing's importance to planners, planning officials, and their communities. With the support of the Fannie Mae Foundation, APA has assembled more than 100 documents and articles from APA publications that examine the affordable housing problem in the U.S. and identify and evaluate various solutions. These articles appear in this Affordable Housing Reader, which is accessible to all visitors to the APA website. Until now, many of these selections have been available solely to APA subscribers or are out of print.
Housing Tool Box @ Institute for Local Government
This online Tool Box provides information about a broad array of housing-related topics, including the Housing Element process. It also includes background and links to resources about a range of housing strategies such as housing trust funds, infill development, second units, and gaining neighborhood acceptance.

The Regulatory Barriers Clearinghouse (RBC) is a source for solutions to state and local regulatory barriers to affordable housing.

Housing Policy Debate
Housing Policy Debate (HPD) provides a venue for original housing and urban affairs research on a broad range of domestic and international topics. Subjects include the analysis of real estate and market trends, land use regulations, and metropolitan development patterns. HPD is published quarterly.
Harvard University Joint Center for Housing Studies
The Joint Center for Housing Studies is Harvard University's center for information and research on housing in the United States. The Joint Center analyzes the dynamic relationships between housing markets and economic, demographic, and social trends, providing leaders in government, business, and the non-profit sector with the knowledge needed to develop effective policies and strategies.
National Housing Institute
The National Housing Institute (NHI), founded in 1975, is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering decent, affordable housing and a vibrant community for everyone. NHI has conducted original research on such topics as shared-equity homeownership, managing neighborhood change, saving subsidized housing, homelessness prevention, and creating jobs as a component of affordable-housing construction.
Center for Housing Policy
The Center for Housing Policy is the research affiliate of the National Housing Conference (NHC). In partnership with NHC and its members, the Center works to broaden understanding of the Nation’s housing challenges and to examine the impact of policies and programs developed to address these needs. Combining research and practical, real-world expertise, the Center helps to develop effective policy solutions at the national, state and local levels that increase the availability of affordable homes.
