Projects
Over the past few decades ABAG has been involved in major projects—often mandated by California law—that help to protect and enhance the San Francisco Bay and its surrounding landscapes.
Residents, public and private organizations, community advocates, local and federal agencies, experts in the field… we all believe that our natural environment plays a vital role in the health and welfare of everyone, in every community, across our region.
ABAG is proud to host, govern and staff the following projects that ultimately touch every community and everyone living in the Bay Area:
- San Francisco Bay Trail
- San Francisco Bay Area Water Trail
- San Francisco Estuary Partnership
- San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority*
We invite you to explore and get involved.
*Staff from the Estuary Partnership, along with other partner agencies, staff the Restoration Authority
The Bay Area Region
The Bay Area region encompasses Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma counties.
How We Govern
ABAG is part regional planning agency and part local government service provider. We perform a broad range of activities for our member cities, towns and counties—and ultimately for everyone in the Bay Area.
